SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Staff Accountant performs the month-end closing process, preparation/distribution of monthly expenditure reports, maintains fixed assets system, prepares monthly bank reconciliation, assists with the budget preparation, and maintains detailed accounting records of all agencies financial transactions. All work to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with organization standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. The organization reserves the right to add to, delete, change, or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time.

  1. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for checking account and food program account. Ensure timely and accurate bank reconciliation on all bank accounts.
  2. Perform month-end close and records end of month journal entries – allocation of advance/deferred revenue – to close monthly accounting cycle.
  3. Prepare assigned account reconciliations and detailed financial analysis.
  4. Prepare and distributes monthly budget comparison reports for selected managers.
  5. Maintain Fixed Asset System - prepares/records fixed assets monthly depreciation expense.
  6. Work with all levels of staff to explain budget variances and financial information.
  7. Provide accounting support to IAFC departments.
  8. Assist in preparing invoices/vouchers for contract payments due and/or for services rendered.
  9. Assist in preparing quarterly Board of Directors reports.
  10. Assist in annual budget preparation including analysis of trends and forecasting.
  11. Assist in the preparation year end schedules for the agency’s annual fiscal audits.
  12. Ensure proper maintenance of ledgers, journals, files, documents, and reports for all income and expenditures related to agency programs/departments.
  13. Schedule visits to sub-contractor sites to ensure fiscal compliance.
  14. Monthly and/or Quarterly meetings with Program Directors to identify, discuss and/or correct budget variances.
  15. Execute our workplace core capabilities: accountability, customer focus, continuous quality improvement (CQI), communication, competent people, and clear priorities.
  16. Other Functions: The organization may assign other functions to the job at its discretion.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field required.

3-5 years experience in General Accounting required.

Proficiency in using Spreadsheets, Word Processing.

Salary: $53,000 (annualized) based on background and experience
