Information Technology, Support Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Information Technology Support Specialist will provide technology support and assistance as required, specifically for the agency teams at the Damen location in Chicago and for other locations as needed.

This team member will be expected to promote and adhere to the workplace core capabilities of: accountability, customer focus, continuous quality improvement (CQI), communication, competent people, and clear priorities. All work is to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with organizational standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. The organization reserves the right to add to, delete, or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time.

  1. Provide technology assistance and support to agency end users as needed, including support for hardware, software, and related equipment.
  2. Maintain and support agency hardware and equipment to ensure high quality performance and to identify potential problems. Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment as needed and directed.
  3. Assist in user and file administration through Active Directory and Sharepoint.
  4. Monitor and respond to requests for assistance using the Zendesk Help Desk system.
  5. Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining documentation related to technology, policies, and procedures.
  6. Assist in Information Technology projects and activities as required.
  7. Promote Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and a culture of innovation by identifying ways for addressing needs and improving operations through data and technology.
  8. Use agency tools for organizing and managing work, including but not limited to the Zendesk Help Desk system and Smartsheet for project and non-support task management.
  9. Collaborate with other Information Technology team members in promoting an effective work environment and culture and assist the Information Technology team in providing technology support and assistance to staff members, as needed.
  10. Perform all other assigned, related duties as required.

  12. Other Functions: Illinois Action for Children may assign other functions to the job at its discretion.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related experience preferred, or an associate’s degree with at least 3-4 years related experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Technical certifications are desirable.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience in providing assistance and support to end users, particularly as part of a technology/ help desk team.
  • Experience in supporting and maintaining PC’s, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with hardware and equipment maintenance and support, including computers, monitors, printers, etc.
  • Experience with Active Directory, including basic user and file management.
  • Experience in imaging is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Canon printer/copiers is desirable.
  • Familiarity and experience with basic computer networking and server concepts are highly desirable.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic familiarity with off-the-shelf software and databases is desirable.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications basics and Voice Over IP (VOIP) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with virtualization and VDI is desirable.
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision and according to established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to travel between various geographic locations.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.

Minimum starting salary $43,800, - compensation commensurate with experience and education
