Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager

Illinois Action for Children is seeking a Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager who will embrace the opportunity to join a dynamic team and serve as one-part IT geek and one-part integrated marketing expert. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager will be a hybrid professional who will straddle the fence between both the IT and marketing worlds, with accountability and prioritization for the marketing side. The role requires the ability to liaise within the marketing function of Illinois Action for Children and then translate that marketing vision into technology activation to deliver on marketing and organizational goals. The Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager will help create and implement the roadmap for Illinois Action for Childrenís digital architectures designed to inform, educate, persuade, and galvanize action on a matrix of initiatives. The Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager will help eliminate marketing and technology silos and improve deployment of new and existing technologies to maximize investment and increase engagement across all digital channels.

MARKETING TECHNOLOGY AND DIGITAL MARKETING MANAGER SKILLS NEEDED

The Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager will be equally comfortable discussing the taxonomy of website properties, the click-through rates of the latest Google Ads campaign, ideas for AB testing, or the latest and everchanging digital marketing trends. The ideal candidate will understand traditional marketing disciplines including:

  • Search engine optimization
  • Audience segmentation
  • Paid search (including Google Ads)
  • Social media
  • Paid media
  • Email marketing
  • Lead generation
  • Database management
  • Website optimization

The Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager should understand not only the practical applications of the marketing craft but the technology that can be used to make it happen.

IDEAL SOFTWARE PROFICIENCY

This role must include general proficiency with a wide variety of marketing software, including:

  • Content management platforms (Higher Logic preferred)
  • Customer relationship management platforms (Salesforce preferred)
  • Email/ marketing automation tools (Pardot or Real Magnet preferred)
  • Online tracking software

Illinois Action for Childrenís Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager must data-driven and know how to capitalize on data and technology to fulfill organizational goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager fully understands how systems could and should interconnect to integrate data between platforms, although typically will not be required to write the code to make that happen. The Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager work must cross all digital channels to improve business performance.

The Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager should be prepared to:

  • Serve as super-user and evangelist for a variety of digital tools
  • Develop and implement strategic and integrated marketing efforts to achieve goals
  • Manage change effectively, including implementation and new marketing technology rollouts
  • Oversee training of marketing software and user adoption
  • Lead user acceptance testing while correcting any issues that arise
  • Oversee data security and product enhancement
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and technology vendors and consultants
  • Optimize technology investments
  • Oversee marketing intelligence and provide actionable insight and performance reports to internal stakeholders
  • Work closely with IT and a variety of different agency staff

The Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams. They should work smoothly under pressure, with a communication style that is equally effective with IT, marketing, and program teams. The Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager is a collaborator and a team player, bridging gaps between departments that are admittedly sometimes just not speaking the same language. The Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing Manager will serve an important role in helping to connect all the dots between the frontend user experience and the marketing and IT teams that control the UI.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelorís degree in marketing, 2-5 years of professional experience in digital marketing
